THE chances of taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin in the coming Tokyo Paralympics will be discussed in this Thursday “Usapang Sports on Air” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS).

Ganapin made history by becoming the first Filipino para athlete in the sport to secure a slot in the Paralympics on Aug. 24-Sept. 5 following a bi-partite invitation from World Taekwondo.

The Marikina-born taekwondo star who went through a life-saving operation that amputated his right arm up to the elbow, will compete in the men’s K44 -75kg division.

Ganapin also pocketed a bronze medal in the Asian Taekwondo Paralympic Qualification Tournament in Amman, Jordan last month.

Also appearing in the weekly sports program sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB) are Philippine Executive Chess Association president Dr. Fred Paez and Rotary Club of Nuvali president Sam Balboa and Larong Hockey sa Pilipinas secretary-general Jing Arroyo and team captains Marvin Llanza and Denizelle Razing.

Paez and Balboa will discuss the fourth Chooks-to-Go national rapid chess championships scheduled July 9-11; while Arroyo, Llanza and Razing will talk about the sudden and controversial disbandment of the indoor hockey teams.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members and friends in the sports community to join the weekly public service program.

This is the 27th session for the year by TOPS, which is composed of editors, columnists, reporters and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids and friends from different social media groups.

Veteran sportscaster Ernest Leo Hernandez is the moderator.
