Frasco to meet foreign counterparts in WTM

TOURISM Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco is set to meet tourism ministers and other dignitaries during the 43rd edition of World Travel Market (WTM) 2022 that will be held from November 7 to 9 in London.

She will lead the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) delegation and take part in a series of high-level meetings.

On Saturday, Frasco addressed leaders and members of the Filipino community based in London, United Kingdom during the Kapihan sa Pasuguan event organized by the Philippine Embassy in London led by its Chargé D’Affaires Rhen Rodriguez, in coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT) London.

The Secretary gave an overview of the DOT’s upcoming plans and ongoing efforts under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., noting the bright prospects of the Philippine industry to sustain its gains since reopening in February 2022.

Frasco is optimistic to surpass the 2 million visitor arrival mark by year end with the present programs and campaigns being implemented to boost tourism activities in the country.

Joining the Tourism Chief during the Forum were key DOT officials Undersecretaries Shahlimar Tamano and Verna Buensuceso, Assistant Secretary Maria Rica Bueno, TPB COO Marga Nograles, and DOT London Tourism Attache Gerry Panga.

A regular initiative of the Philippine Embassy in London, the Kapihan sa Pasuguan serves as a venue for visiting Philippine dignitaries to connect with the overseas Filipino community and apprise them of programs and campaigns especially those that are relevant to Filipinos based in the United Kingdom.

The WTM 2022 will showcase how the tourism industry has evolved and reshaped itself due to the pandemic to meet the demands of the market and determine its future direction.
