A FORMER convict who served more than four years in jail is going back to prison after he was nabbed for the third time by Eastern Police District-District Drug Enforcement Unit (EPD-DDEU) during a buy-bust operation in Pasig City.

In a report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director P/Brigadier Gen. Wilson Asueta, the arrested suspect, 27, was a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

The ex-convict was nabbed by DDEU, headed by Major Darwin Guerrero, for selling illegal drugs in Pasig Mega Market Food Court, Bgy. San Nicolas, Pasig City at around 5:30 p.m., May 2, 2023.

Based on the record, the suspect had served time in jail for more than four years for possession of illegal drugs in 2018 and was released after posting bail.

After several months he was collared anew for violation of illegal drugs and was released this April 2023 after he applied for probation.

But he resumed illegal drug activity, and his name was listed as a no. 5 “high-value individual” (HVI) at the regional level.

DDEU operatives caught the suspect red-handed selling P8,000 worth of illegal drugs to an undercover cop.

Police recovered an additional plastic sachet of shabu weighing an estimated 25 grams valued at P170,000.

Asueta warned drug pushers and users that the police will continue to conduct an aggressive campaign against illegal drugs as part of the anti-criminality campaign of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The suspect is now detained at Pasig City Custodial Facility and facing charges of violation of RA (Republic Act) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
