IT’S Christmas in November for more than 222,000 officers and men of the Philippine National Police (PNP) as General Dionardo B. Carlos yesterday announced the release of their yearend bonus and cash gift.

A total of P8,190,063,990.13 was released to pay for the mandated 2021 yearend bonus and cash gift of 222,418 PNP personnel, the top cop said.

He added that the funds are from the regular PNP appropriations programmed in the agency’s 2021 budget.

PNP Finance Service director, Brigadier Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., in a report to Carlos said the yearend bonus and cash gift have been credited to the individual payroll accounts of PNP Personnel with the Land Bank of the Philippines on Thursday.

The yearend bonus is equivalent to one month basic pay while the cash gift is pro-rated at P5,000, subject to the guidelines in reference to Fiscal Directive Number 2016-16 “Payment of Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift for FY 2016 and Years Thereafter”.

However, Nartatez explained that the yearend bonus and other bonuses, including the mid-year bonus exceeding P90,000 are taxable affecting a total of 15,587 PNP personnel.

He said that the more than 15,000 PNP personnel are subject to the yearend tax adjustments effective November and December 2021 pursuant to the TRAIN Law or Republic Act 10963 and Bureau of Internal Revenue Regulations 9-2018 and 11-2018, and shall resume the regular monthly tax deduction on January 2022.

PNP spokesperson, Colonel Roderick Augustus B. Alba also said the release of the 2021 yearend bonus and cash gift for personnel with pending administrative cases is automatically deferred according to their rules and regulations.
