RAIN or Shine outclassed Terrafirma, 106-94, behind another strong game by import Steve Taylor Jr. and rookie Gian Mamuyac for its second straight win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Taylor finished with a double-double of 20 points and 24 rebounds, while Mamuyac added 17 points, five rebounds and two assists to power the Elasto Painters of coach Yeng Guiao to a 2-1 win-loss record.

Mamuyac, who was named as “Best Player of the Game” scored all his 17 points in the second half for the Elasto Painters, who dropped their openng assignment to NLEX (90-96) before winning over Barangay Ginebra ( 93-71).

Mamuyac, who was not fielded in by Guiao against Ginbra, also went a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line.

Taylor also had three steals and two blocks for another all-around game.

Beau Belga and Andrei Caracut also stepped up big for Rain or Shine, finishing with 12 points each.

Lester Prosper finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds for Terrafirma, which remained winless in three games.

The loss also extended Terrafirma’s losing streak to 19 straight games – now the second longest in PBA history behind only the 29 of the Blackwater Bossing.

Juami Tiongson and Alex Cabagnot contributed 17 and 14 points, respectively, for the Dyip.

Rain or Shine will now get a one-week rest before gunning for its third straight victory against Philippine Cup champion San Miguel Beer on Oct. 9.
