A 44-YEAR-OLD construction worker was hacked dead by a drinking pal in Padre Garcia, Batangas the other day.

Padre Garcia Municipal Police Station PCPT Eduardo V. Timbol II identified the victim as Edwin Montellano Colambo, single, a construction worker, and resident of Barangay Bawi, Padre Garcia.

The suspect was identified as Jhonjie Mallien Fos, 51, married, a construction worker, and a resident of Brgy. Banaba, also in this town.

A telephone call from Brgy. Tangub Chairman Jhun Carpio was received by Padre Garcia MPS, informing that there was a hacking incident that happened at around 6:40 p.m. on the same date in his area.

He said the suspect has surrendered and is now under his custody together with the weapon used.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim and the suspect with other friends were seen having a drinking spree.

Moments later for an unknown reason a heated argument erupted between the two and police believed both were under the influence of liquor. After the drinking session, some friends left the two who were still drinking, investigators learned.

Police said the suspect suddenly grabbed the sharp bolo and hacked the victim several times in the different parts of the body.

The victim was rushed to Dr. R. Rosales Memorial Medical Hospital in Brgy. Poblacion, Padre Garcia, but pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Anne Kristine Villalon and was turned over to Crismar Funeral homes for autopsy.
