DOTr joins 54th ASEAN STOM meeting

THE Philippine delegation, led by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Planning and Project Development Atty. Timothy John Batan, joined senior transport officials and representatives of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Member States for the 54th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting (STOM) and Associated Meetings, held October 14 and 15, 2022 in Bali, Indonesia.

Under the chairmanship of Novie Riyanto Rahardjo, secretary general of Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation, Senior Transport Officials were briefed on the progress of initiatives under air transport, land transport, maritime transport, transport facilitation, and sustainable transport and the status of transport cooperation with China. Japan, ROK, and other dialogue partners.

Batan actively participated in the discussions centering on the review and reporting of the outcomes and status progress of the various transport deliverables and commitments under the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan 2016-2025. He also shared and highlighted the efforts of the Philippines, particularly on sustainable land transport initiatives and maritime connectivity.

Preceding the ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting, the senior transport officials deliberated on the several deliverables and outcome documents that will be endorsed for signing and adoption by the transport ministers.

Members of the Philippine Delegation include DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto C. Lim, Undersecretary for Maritime Elmer Francisco U. Sarmiento, CAB Executive Director Carmelo L. Arcilla, CAAP Acting Director General Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo, PCG Commandant Artemio U. Abu, LTO Assistant Secretary Teofilo E. Guadiz III, Chief of Information Division and OIC of International Cooperation Division Ana Dominique M. Consulta, and Supervising Communications Development Officer Jasmin Marie C. Uson.

The ASEAN STOM, as ASEAN’s executive transport body, is convened twice a year to review and coordinate transport-related programs, initiatives, projects, and activities for the consideration of the ASEAN Transport Ministers.
