THE Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have announced a reward of P2 million for any information that could lead to the arrest of former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag.

Bantag is believed to be the mastermind behind the killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid.

The DOJ and NBI have also offered a reward of P1 million for the arrest of former BuCor deputy security officer Ricardo Zulueta.

Bantag, Zulueta, and three other individuals have been issued arrest warrants by the Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court in connection with the murder of Lapid.

The warrant also names Israel Adao Dimaculangan, Edmon Adao Dimaculangan, and an individual using the alias “Orly/Orlando.”

The Las Piñas court has recommended no bail for their temporary liberty.

In addition to these charges, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court has ordered the arrest of Bantag and Zulueta for their alleged involvement in the mysterious death of middleman Jun Villamor  inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Villamor reportedly passed on the kill order to self-confessed gunman Joel Escorial.

Percy Lapid, also known as Percival Mabasa, was a DWBL radio commentator who was shot dead at the gate of BF Resort Village in Talon Dos, Las Piñas City on October 3 while on his way home.

Lapid hosted a radio commentary show called “Lapid Fire,” where he denounced fake news, red-tagging, and government corruption.
