Davao cops gun down 2 armed HVTs, nab 4

TWO armed drug trafficking suspects were killed in separate gunfights while four were hauled to jail by agents of the Police Regional Office 11 in a series of anti-narcotics operation in Davao City, PRO11 director, Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said on Sunday.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., Brig. Gen.Silo identified the slain suspects as Joseph Hinggosa and Jayson Arlante.

Hinggosa was killed in a firefight with undercover officers of the Tugbok Police Station 9 in Davao City in Purok 13, Phase2 Ilang-Ilang Street in Green Meadows, Barangay Sto. Niño 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 26-year-old suspect from Bgy. Cataluña, Pequeño, Davao City had just sold drugs to a poseur when he sensed the ongoing entrapment operation and fought it out with the police team led by Major Michael Uyanguren.

Brig. Gen. Silo said that the undercover agent was forced to shoot at the suspect when he started firing at him. Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition and two spent cartridges, around two grams of shabu worth P13,600 and dried marijuana leaves valued at P1,200.

On the other hand, Arlante was gunned down in a sting in San Pedro Extension in Bgy. 6-A, Davao City shortly before midnight Saturday. The suspect reportedly pulled out a concealed weapon and fired shots at the poseur but missed prompting the latter to retaliate.

Members of the Davao City San Pedro Police Station 2 led by Maj. Marvin Hugos recovered a cal. .38 revolver with five live ammunition and a spent casing, a marked P1,000 bill and an estimated P5,000 worth of shabu and marijuana from the possession of the suspect who was pronounced dead upon arrival in a local hospital by an attending physician.

Brig. Gen. Silo said that the four other suspects were arrested in separate operations while offering no resistance.

One of the suspects who turned out to be a 17-year-old male yielded nearly eight grams of shabu worth P48,000 and dried marijuana leaves valued at P813 during an operation in Purok 8, Nile Street in Bgy. 19-B past 8 p.m. last Tuesday.

The 2nd identified as Alvin Estrete alias ‘Jaguar,’ the 5th most wanted drug personality in the city, yielded some PP17,000 worth of shabu and a loaded cal. .38 revolver during a sting in Purok San Andres in Bgy. Indangan, Buhangin District conducted by the local police headed by Maj. Jose Rodrigo Mendoza on Tuesday evening.

The 3rd identified as Allene Ortado was found allegedly in possession of some P118,000 worth of shabu and a .38 revolver with four bullets during an anti-narcotics operation along GTH St. in Dumoy, Davao City 9:40 p.m. last Monday.

The 4th identified as Elvis Agbong, tagged as the 2nd most wanted drug dealer in the city yielded some 16 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at nearly P110,000 during a buy-bust operation in front of the Panacan Public Cemetery conducted by the local police led by Lieutenant Ryan Kenneth Ramones and Maj. Jeric Miraña.

The arrested suspects are facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, Brig. Gen. Silo said.
