Danao commends PNP-LSS for outstanding service

PHILIPPINE National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. on Tuesday commended the Philippine National Police-Logistics Support Service (PNP-LSS) for a job well done in providing full support to the PNP’s anti-criminality and anti-terror programs as well as serving the public amid the pandemic.

The top cop said that the PNP-LSS, headed by Brigadier Gen. Lorenzo B. Detran Jr., has proven its “worth” and has carried out its job well amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PNP-LSS marked its 64th founding anniversary on Tuesday.

Apart from conducting procurement, storage, inventory, distribution, and disposal of PNP supplies and equipment, the PNP-LSS is also tasked to undertake maintenance of PNP vehicles, armaments, and other equipment and, most importantly, provide transportation services in support of operational as well as administrative activities of the 225,000-strong police force.

PNP-LSS personnel is constantly seen driving police trucks and other heavy equipment needed to transport personnel and goods during “search, rescue, relief and retrieval operations” in parts of the country hit by disasters such as massive flood, earthquake, and landslides.

They also provide free transportation to the public during transport strikes and other emergencies.

At the same time, they are also responsible for disposing of police equipment, including guns that are deemed beyond economical repair.

On Tuesday, PNP The Chief Directorial Staff, Lt. Gen. Manuel M. Abu, on behalf of Lt. Gen. Danao, led the awarding of outstanding PNP-LSS personnel at Camp Crame.

They were joined by PNP Director for Logistics, Major Gen. Ronaldo E. Olay, and Brig. Gen. Detran, the PNP-TCDS, handed out plaques of recognition to PNP-LSS individual awardees Col. Jennifer N. Belmonte, Lt. Col. Bjorn John C. Labos, PEMS Christine P. Gabriel, Pat. Melanie P Martinez, and non-uniformed personnel Norbert C. Velasco and Priscilla B. Labis.

Plaques of appreciation were also given to the PNP-LLS Advisory Group led by Director Florencio F. Sunico Jr., officials of TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) Quezon City and Pasay/Makati led by Directors Mariflor R. Liwanag and Rizal S. Bautista; Land Transportation Office-NCR West Chief Atty. Clarence V. Guinto; the LTO on Wheels represented by Jacklyn S. Gamboa; Landbank of the Philippines-Malate Branch led by Sherwin Gil M. Magsino; the Worldwide Quality Assurance represented by Nellie Ang See and Mary Jane B. Inocencio; and the Full Force Consultancy Services led by Jennifer V. de Leon.
