WITH its decision to order government agencies to support the National Crime Prevention Program (NCPP), Malacanang has given the administration a much-needed boost in the eyes of the people.

Everybody agrees that effective prevention methods will provide a safe and secure environment for society to improve with.

Admittedly, crime prevention involves any activity which attempts to eliminate crime prior to it occurring.

The 2024 NCPP aims to provide cross-cutting strategies to foster safe communities and protect the rights of the Filipino people.

The NCPP, which was submitted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government to President Marcos on February 22, is designed to reduce the prevalence of criminal activities.

“Talagang mahihirapang umunlad ang isang komunidad kung kaliwa’t-kanan ang nangyayaring krimen sa lugar,” an elderly said.

The implementation of the 2024 NCPP is consistent with the Philippine Development Plan of 2023-2028 of the Marcos administration.

Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 46, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, said that it was necessary for all government agencies and instrumentalities to support the NCPP.

Malacanang has designated the National Police Commission (Napolcom) as the lead agency in the implementation of the national crime prevention program.

As a well-meaning Filipino, we cannot overemphasize the importance of maintaining peace and order not only in the metropolis but throughout the country.
