CREAMLINE got the job done by surviving a strong Nxled challenge, 25-22, 25-12, 25-20 in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena on Saturday night.

Despite acknowledging that the Cool Smashers have yet to reach their peak form, team captain Alyssa Valdez expressed confidence in their ability to elevate their game as they progress through the stretch of the preliminaries.

Valdez emphasized the defending champions’ commitment to fundamental principles, citing their resilience in overcoming challenges.

“When the going gets tough, we get back to the basics,” said Valdez, whose 12-point performance earned her the game’s top honors.

The hard-earned victory, its seventh against two defeats, propelled Creamline ahead of Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo, which both tote 6-2 cards.

Up next for the Cool Smashers is their blockbuster match against Choco Mucho in a rematch of last year’s Finals on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Flying Titans hold the league’s best record at 8-1.

Creamline also has one last tough assignment, facing another strong semis contender in PLDT (7-1) on April 25.

The loss dropped the Chameleons to a 3-6 slate.

TotsCarlos showed the way for the Cool Smashers with 18 points, including four service aces, while Galanza finished with 10 points and nine digs.

Bea de Leon, who will face her former club for the first time on Thursday, had two blocks for a six-point outing, while Kyle Negrito tossed in 17 excellent sets and also logged two blocks.
