COVID patient rapes housewife with COVID at quarantine center
A FEMALE Covid-patient was allegedly raped in an isolation facility in Bgy. Bitano, Legazpi City, Albay.
The victim is a 25-year-old housewife. She was brought to the facility testing positive for the coronavirus disease 2019.
The suspect is a 45-year-old local government employee, and a resident of Bgy. Puro, Legazpi City. He is also COVID positive and undergoing quarantine at the same facility.
Prior to the alleged rape, the victim and other COVID patients, including the suspect, had drinks.
The woman went to the comfort room to answer the call of nature. However, the suspect followed her.
According to the victim, the suspect raped her inside the restroom.
Police arrested the suspect, who was hauled to a separate isolation ward.
Rape charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspect.
Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal immediately ordered an investigation into the incident.
The mayor said there was a clear violation of the protocol in the COVID facility in Bgy. Bitano.
Rosal questioned why liquor was sneaked into the facility being manned by a security guard and some policemen.
