MYLES Powell delivered the game-winner — a three-point shot — as the Bay Area Dragons survived Northport Batang Pier, 105-104, for back-to- back victories in the PBA Commissioners’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Powell’s heroics came after Robert Bolick tied the score at 102-all with 1:25 remaining and Roi Sumang nailed the go-ahead jumper following a steal to give the Batang Pier a 104-102 lead with 1:09 remaining.

Former NBA player Powell finished with 37 points on 8-of-15 three-point shooting on top of six rebounds in 38 minutes of action.

He debuted with 41 points in Bay Area’s 133-87 triumph over Blackwater Elite in the opener last Sept. 21.

Hayden Joel Blankley had a double-double for the Hong Kong-based Dragons with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Chuanxing Liu added 13 points and five rebounds.

Bolick topscored for the Batang Pier with 33 points and newly-acquired Arvin Tolentino contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds for coach Pido Jarencio’s squad.

It was a sorry setback for NorthPort, which had several chances to secure the win and follow up its dramatic 92-89 victory over Phoenix Super LPG last Sept. 21.

.Sumang had a chance to wrap up the win but he missed from rainbow area and allowed the Dragons to take the final possession with still 11 seconds remaining.

Powell then came through with his endgame heroics.

Up next for the Dragons is Phoenix at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Batang Pier, on the other hand, hope to bounce back when they meet the Meralco Bolts on Friday, also at the same venue.

In the second game, Blackwater Bossing outsteadied Phoenix, 97-85.
