A MAN accused of killing his cousin in a “Rido” or bloody family feud in Zamboanga Sur was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Pagadian City last Saturday, PNP-CIDG Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said Tuesday.

The suspect is now under the custody of the CIDG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Office, the official said.

Lee said that the suspect was arrested in his hiding place in Barangay Muricay in Pagadian City last Saturday on the strength of a warrant for murder and frustrated murder issued by Judge Dennis Vicoy of the Pagadian City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20.

No bail was recommended for the suspect in connection with the murder case filed against him last October. However, he was allowed to post a P200,000 bail regarding the frustrated murder case he has been facing since February 2019.

Lee said that the accused is a primary suspect in separate gun attacks that victimized his male second cousin. The first attack, which took place in 2019, led to the serious wounding of the victim, and the second, which happened in 2021, led to his death.

“Accordingly, the established motive for the said incidents was a family feud between the cousins who each supported different candidates during the past local election,” the official said.
