Cavite LGUs brace for ‘Betty’

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Seven cities and 17 municipal governments here announced on Friday, May 26, that trucks and other equipment for disaster response are ready for deployment to ensure the safety of Caviteño residents once Typhoon “Betty” (international name: Mawar) enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

General Trias City Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV directed the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to ensure that all “equipment and vehicles are in good condition and ready for deployment around the area.”

In Silang, Mayor Kevin Anarna and Municipal Administrator Nathaniel “Jung” Anarna Jr. conducted a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting together with Municipal DRRMO, Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB), RHU, Silang Traffic Management Office, local police under P/Lt. Col. Romulo dela Rea, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), General Services Office, and Municipal Information Office to prepare for the coming typhoon.

Rescue equipment, vehicles, schools, and multipurpose buildings that will serve as evacuation centers were also prepared.

In Imus City, Mayor Alex Advinucla instructed city department head officials to prepare for the typhoon, especially the CDRRMO.

Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua ordered the MDRRMO led by Jeg Alix to be ready and advise all the residents along the seashore to be alert and secure their pump boats.
