Cavite City kicks off ‘Chikiting Ligtas’
CAVITE CITY – The local government of Cavite City has formally launched the “Chikiting Ligtas – Measles, Rubella, Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-OPV SIA)” campaign for 2023 at MeDCare Facility at Barangay 39-Jasmin here, Monday, April 24.
The said campaign aims to increase the protection of children aged 0 to 59 months against diseases such as measles, rubella, and polio. The launch was attended by Assistant Regional Director Dr. Leda Hernandez and Dr. Jenilyn Dela Cruz of the Department of Health (DOH)-Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon); and Dr. Lino Antonio Barron of the City Health Office (Cavite City).
Cavite City local executives Mayor Denver Chua, Vice Mayor Raleigh Rusit, and Councilor Maureen Lu of the Committee on Health lead the ceremonial immunization and oral vaccination to show support for the DOH-Calabarzon’s program.
Mayor Chua encouraged parents and said “Hinikayat ko po ang mga magulang na dalhin ang kanilang mga anak sa assigned centers para mabakunahan po sila at maging ligtas sa measles [at] rubella.”
