Caretaker, 42, shot dead by RIT
JAEN, Nueva Ecija – A 42-year-old man was shot dead by riding in tandem (RIT) here Friday night. Police identified the slain victim as Russel Marcelo, caretaker, of Purok 4, Bgy. Niyugan, this town.
He was on his way home after having a drinking spree with his neighbors at 7:00 p.m. when two men on board a motorcycle suddenly peppered him with bullets, resulting in his instantaneous death.
After the attack, the suspects fled towards the Jaen-San Antonio Road.
At the crime scene, police recovered scattered pieces of 9mm ammunition cartridges.
Authorities are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the possible motives behind the killing.
Investigators are looking to review CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera footage for possible identification of the suspects and to track the vehicle used in the incident.
