Caloocan marks 60th cityhood anniversary

CALOOCAN City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan extended his sincere congratulations to eligible individuals and business companies who has been granted an award during the annual Outstanding Citizens Awards (OCA) Night held at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Among business corporations that were recognized for being top business taxpayers were The Manila Electric Company or Meralco, Frabelle Foods Corporation, NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) Corporation, Jollibee Foods Corporation, and Maxblocks Construction Corporation while top taxpayers for single proprietor categories including Felipe Chong of D.N.C. Trading, Geronimo Perey of Tri-Ohms Engineering, Raymond Wong of Kemp Mart, Victor Tan of V.M.C.K. Trading, and Joseph Arellano of J.B. Arellano Enterprises also received an award.

Mayor Oca also awarded 6 centenarians cash gifts and trophies, namely, Estelita Tupas, Sergio Babuyo, Sr., Mauro Antolin, Segundina Samillano, Purificacion Lacsamana, and Carmen Adel while posthumous award were given to Genaro Hernandez, and Felicitas Sarte.

Ten outstanding employees of the city government who have shown an outstanding performance including a barangay health worker, a casual nurse, and a job order worker, also received trophies and cash incentives.

Six other private companies which contributed much-needed help to the city government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic were also given special recognition. These are USAID’s (United States Agency for International Development) Research Health Project, San Miguel Corporation, Rebisco Foundation Inc., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Okada Foundation Inc., and Pitmaster.

“Tunay nga naman na ang totoong yaman ng ating lungsod ay ang magagaling, masisipag at mapagmalasakit na mga mamamayan nito,” Mayor Oca said adding that the Outstanding Citizens Award Night was part of the celebration of city’s 60th cityhood anniversary held annually.
