POLICE Regional Office 2 director Brig. Gen. Steve Ludan yesterday announced the arrest of one of Cagayan Valley’s most wanted persons during an anti-criminality operation in Diffun, Quirino.

The official identified the suspect as Jaymar Rivera, a 21-year- old construction worker from Purok 3, Barangay Rizal in Diffun municipality who has been in the most wanted list of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 2.

Ludan said that the suspect was arrested at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in his residence by members of the Diffun Municipal Police Station, the Quirino Provincial Highway Patrol Team, the Regional Intelligence 2, the local Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the 1st Quirino Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The official said that the suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 issued by Judge Remalie Cardenas of the Cabarroguis, Quirino Regional Trial Court last August 16.

A P300,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused, who is now being held at the Diffun police lock-up facility.

Ludan said that the suspect was charged in court in 2018 when he was still a teenager. Court records showed that the suspect and his accomplices were tagged as involved in the theft of motorcycles in the province.

The suspects gained notoriety for ‘cannibalizing’ the spare parts of the motorbikes they have stolen before assembling them into ‘new ones.
