AS part of its commitment to preventing the entry of illegal goods into the country, the Bureau of Customs Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) condemned various regulated goods without health and safety clearances seized by the Port, which included food items, unlabeled medicines, vape juice and Lianhua Qingwen (traditional Chinese medicines) among others.

The said regulated goods were seized on various occasions as part of BOC-NAIA’s border security and anti-smuggling campaign.

The condemnation was conducted in a facility located in Trece Martires, Cavite, by Pyrolysis using high-temperature heat to incinerate and totally destroy the subject-regulated goods.

The condemnation was spearheaded by the BOC-NAIA’s Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD) with the assistance of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-NAIA and Enforcement and Security Service District Office-NAIA.

In her statement, BOC-NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan stressed that aside from health and safety concerns to the public, the condemnation process is part of the Port’s efforts to enhance trade facilitation by decongesting customs warehouses and ensure adequate customs facilities for arriving goods.

BOC-NAIA commits to fully support the trust of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero to secure the nation’s borders against the entry of potentially injurious goods while consistently enhancing trade facilitation initiatives to improve the collection of lawful revenues.
