Big cash prizes in Nuvali chessfest

BIG cash prizes are at stake in the Atty. Elpidio Bautista, Jr. National Executive Chess Championship scheduled December 30 at the Vista Mall in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

The event, which is being hosted by the Rotary Club of Nuvali for the benefit of its Bright Eyes, Bright Future project, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Up for grabs in the one-day competition are cash prizes and trophies, with the champion getting the lion’s share of P20,000 in the Executive division, P10,000 in the Open category and P5,000 in the Senior class.

The runner-up and the third placers in the Executive will pocket P10,000 and P7,000, respectively.

The fourth up to the 10th placers will also receive cash prizes from P2,000 to P5,000, as well as the top senior, top lady, top 1800 and below, top unrated and top Laguna player.

Cash prizes will also be given to the top finishers in the Open and Senior categories.

Proceeds of the event will be used to the Bright Eyes, Bright Future project of the Rotary Club of Nuvali. It aims to provide free eyeglasses to 300 students with eye disorders of Pulong Sta. Cruz Elementary School in Sta.Rosa City, Laguna.
