A 64-YEAR-OLD previously convicted “sex offender” was arrested for allegedly running a “child sex” website in the Philippines.

Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents said the suspect was arrested last September 15 in his rented home in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.

According to BI Commissioner Norman G. Tansingco, the British national was also investigated for alleged film piracy after arresting officers found evidence of him distributing obscene photos of underage Filipino girls on his website and social media accounts.

The suspect was reportedly jailed for nine years in the United Kingdom but moved to the country shortly after his release from prison.

Joint enforcers conducted the operation from the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) and Intelligence Division in coordination with Tangub City Police.

“The arrest followed after receiving an official communication from British authorities informing us that [the fugitive] became the subject of an Interpol green notice that was issued last Feb. 21,” BI Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. said.

Manahan, however, shared that the British had hidden in the Philippines since Feb. 6 when he arrived here as a tourist and has since overstayed his visa.

Tansingco vowed to prioritize the arrest and deportation of sex offenders preying on vulnerable victims online. “These predators pose a serious threat to our women and children, and there is no place for them here,” he said.

The British national was placed on the BI blacklist, effectively barring him from re-entering the country.
