Bgy. Alas-asin to build new P75M public market
MARIVELES, Bataan – The “richest barangay” here is constructing its newest and most modern barangay public market worth P75 million.
If finished, this will be the biggest infrastructure project initiated by the leadership of Barangay Captain Dante Malimban, of Alas-asin, which he said is “a must.”
Usually, vendors sell their commodities along the national highway, which is risky to consumers.
Malimban said this had prompted him and the barangay kagawads (councilors) to prioritize the construction of Alas-asin public market.
“Napakadelikado dahil sa gilid mismo ng highway namimili ang mga kabarangay namin, kaya gumawa tayo ng paraan para makapagpatayo ng palengke sa isang [safe] na lugar,” Malimban pointed out.
In an interview, Malimban bared that the P25 million funding came from the barangay fund while another P25 million was from the financing of Congressman Abet Garcia.
“We will ask Gov. Joet Garcia and Congresswoman Gila Garcia for the additional P25 million for its total completion,” said Malimban.
People’s Tonight learned that Alas-asin is host to a number of multinational companies, including the giant GN Mariveles Power plant, international ports, Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific, among others.
