BBM-Sara the team to beat
PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. and his running-mate vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte have fortified their position as the team to beat in the May 2022 elections by registering another double-digit lead over their respective rivals in the recent pre-election survey conducted by Pulse Asia Research Inc.
In the nationwide survey conducted from December 1-6, 53 percent of the respondents preferred Marcos “to be their president in next year’s election,” as compared to just the 20 percent of Leni Robredo.
Francisco Domagoso and Emmanuel Pacquiao received an identical eight percent and were tied for third place, Ping Lacson has six percent which is good for 4th place, while Antonio Parlade obtained one percent.
Both Leody de Guzman and Norberto Gonzales registered less than one percent preference votes placing them at the tail-end.
With around five months to go before the May 2022 elections, the survey showed that Marcos, who is running under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, enjoys the support of voters across geographic areas and socio-economic classes, majorities in Metro Manila with 61% percent, the rest of Luzon, 51 percent, Mindanao, 64 percent.
Marcos received 42 percent preference in Visayas as compared to Robredo, who has 25 percent, while Pacquiao got 15 percent and Domagoso, 10 percent, respectively.
Marcos also topped the socio-economic classes with 53 percent from Class ABC, and 54 percent from Class D saying they would vote for the former Ilocos Norte senator if the May 2022 elections were held during the survey period.
The latter’s presidential bid is also backed by a big plurality of Visayans, 42 percent, and a near majority of those belonging to Class E, with 49 percent.
In the vice-presidential survey, Duterte was ahead with 45 percent, followed by Sen. Vicente Sotto III 31 percent, Sen. Francis Pangilinan 12 percent, Willie Ong six percent, and Walden Bello, 0.01 percent.
To recall, Duterte was a late addition in the vice-presidential derby as she only substituted on November 13, two days before the Comelec deadline for substitution.
The latest Pulse Asia survey reinforced previous polls by other firms such as SWS, Publicus, Kalye Survey, DZRH, and RMN, among others, showing Marcos pulling away from the pack of other 2022 contenders five months before the May 2022 elections.
While he is aware that they are the frontrunners in the race this early, Marcos said the BBM-Sara UniTeam will continue to work hard to send the message across “that only through unity, coupled with the genuine desire to help the country, will we be able to get back on our feet as a nation.”
