Mario FetalinoPRESIDENT Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and key members of his administration ended the year 2022 with excellent ratings which is unprecedented in the political history of the country.

This was based from a non-commissioned PULSO NG PILIPINO survey conducted from December 5 to 12 by the Issues and Advocacy Center (The CENTER) which measured the trust rating and satisfaction rating of the President and other government officials.

Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte both received very excellent marks with a net rating of 81% and 82%, respectively, based on a gross trust rating of 87% for the President and 88% for Duterte with both yielding to a similar but negligible six percent of respondents who said they tend not to trust the country’s top two officials.

Seven percent of those polled said they are unsure of their perception for Marcos and six per cent for Duterte.

In the same vein, Senate President Juan Miguel ‘Migz’ Zubiri also stood out with a gross trust rating of 79% with seven per cent saying they tend to distrust him for a net trust rating of 72%.

This is by far one of the highest trust ratings accorded a Senate President.

Some 14% of those polled could not give a response with regards Zubiri.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez, meanwhile, scored a respectable 49% of the 1,200 respondents who trust the Speaker with eight per cent saying they tend not to trust him which gives Romualdez a net trust rating of 41%.

This again is also considered high if ranged against the trust rating of previous Speakers of the Lower House.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo registered a net trust rating of 38% based on 42% gross trust rating as against eight per cent who said they tend not to trust the Chief Magistrate.

Some 54% said they don’t know or would not comment which is understandable.

As in past surveys of this kind, the Chief Justice of the High Court always suffers from a low rating on account of their low awareness level.

Of the 81% who said they trust in Marcos, 94% were from Mindanao, 89% were from the Visayas, 83% from Luzon and a surprisingly high 82% in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Pulso ng Pilipino survey also showed that Marcos was highly favored by 93% from the poorest “E” sector, 89% from the “D” group, and 84% from the Upper to the middle income households.

The Vice President, on the other hand, was the preferred choice of those in the lower strata with 92%, 87% of the “D” class and 84% from the upper to the middle income sector.

With regards their performance in office, the President ended the year with an excellent 78% satisfaction rating with only four per cent saying they are not satisfied with Marcos while 14% of the respondents were undecided.

Duterte, for her part, registered the highest trust rating in Mindanao at 97%, percent, 91% from Visayas, 81% in Luzon and, 84% in the NCR.

Some 93% who trust Duterte were from the poorest sector, 87% were from the “D” class and 84% were from the upper to the mid-income group.

Eighty two percent of those polled said they are satisfied with her performance from the time she occupied the vice presidency and only three per cent said they are not satisfied for a net satisfaction rating of 79% with 15% were undecided.

Of those who expressed their satisfaction over the Vice President’s performance, 84% were from the upper and middle income groups, 87% were from the “D” class and 97% were from the poor sector of society.
