Batch 94, Team 80s dispute alumni volleyball crown

IT will be youth versus experience all over again as Batch 94 and Team 80s dispute the championship in the ERJHS Alumni Sportsfest volleyball competitions at the Barangay N.S. Amoranto covered court in Malaya St., Quezon City.

Batch 94 and Team 80s finished with identical records of four wins and two losses to arrange a winner-take-all title showdown at 9 a.m.on Sunday, May 7.

Batch 94, led by Most Valuable Player awardee Mamei Apinado, defeated Team 80s in the “Battle of Generations” volleyball championship held last 2018.

This year, Team 80s dominated two of three elimination round games against Batch 94.

Team 80s defeated Batch 94, 27-25, 25-23, intheir first emeting last April 16, before Batch 94 evened up the score with a 10-25, 25-12, 15-13 triumph last April 23.

Last April 30, Team 80s battled from a first-set loss to roll back Batch 94,16-25, 25-6, 25-11.

Batch 96 finished third.

ERJHS Alumni Sports Club volleyball committee chairman Robert Capistrano said the winner of the May 7 game will receive the championship trophy on May 14, along with the winner of the basketball tournament on the same day.

The volleyball and basketball tournaments formally opened last April 16 with three-time Quezon City Councilor Mayen Juico, F2 Logistics stars Ivy Lacsina and C.J.Woo and NorthPort Batang Pier coach Bonnie Tan as special guests. AA
