Batangueño farmers, fishers mark annual celebration
BATANGAS – The Batangas provincial government, led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, celebrated the “Batangueño Farmers and Fishermen’s Month” or the annual celebration of the province’s farmers and fisherfolks’ day on May 5, 2022, at Dream Zone, Capitol Compound in Batangas City.
This year’s theme focuses on recognizing every farmer and fisher as “heroes of our country”.
Part of the program was an agricultural exhibit and product promotion, featuring various agri-based products, awarding awards to 11 unique farming and fisheries organizations in the province, and sharing the experience and success stories of several prominent individuals in the agricultural sector.
As a proof of Governor DoDo Mandanas’ prioritization of agriculture and thru the assistance of Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Rod Bautista, the comprehensive plan and programs for the year 2022 and the 2021-2025 Batangas Agricultural Development Plan of the Provincial Agricultural Office focused on harvest facilities, irrigation system, and mechanization.
Joining the celebration was Regional Technical Director Abelardo Bragas of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Field Office IV-A, Provincial Administrator Wilfredo Racelis, who represented Gov. Mandanas, Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) Head Luis Awitan, several municipal agriculturists, and representatives of various Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAO) in the province.
