Bank robbery foiled in Caloocan City

POLICE arrested a jobless man who managed to barge inside a close PS Bank branch to steal by shattering its glass panel Wednesday evening in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police chief P/Col. Samuel Mina said elements of Grace Park Police Sub-Station 2 led by P/SSgt. Herbert Martinez and Pat. Mark Bryan Ballicud were able to trace and arrest Mark Joseph Lomeda, 27 of 1154 Masagana St. Heroes Del 96 Bryg. 73 while crawling from the ceiling at the second floor of PS Bank branch located along Rizal Avenue Ext. near corner 10th Avenue, Grace Park at around 11 p.m.

Investigation conducted by P/Cpl. Niño Nazareno Paguirigan and P/SSgt. Arjay Terrado showed that at around 8:40 p.m., PS Bank Inspector Rene Cerbana, 43, received a call from the head office of PS Bank in Makati City, informing him that an unidentified man was seen by CCTV operator inside the premises of the bank branch in Caloocan.

Cerbana, along with his colleague Elvis Abdon, 29, immediately proceeded to the area and upon noticing the shattered glass panel, they peeped inside the bank and saw the suspect roaming inside.

The two sought the assistance of policemen that resulted in the arrest of the suspect who tried to escape by crawling into the ceiling. Police recovered from him a Bluetooth speaker and cal. 38 live bullet.

The suspect was presented for inquest proceeding before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for robbery and violation ng R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
