Aircraft crashlands in La Union

A TECNAM P-2010 aircraft with registry number RP-C8230 crashlanded at Barangay Urayong Bayan in Bauang, La Union today, May 26.

According to an initial report from CAAP Operations and Rescue Coordination Center (ORCC), the aircraft carried a 25-year-old student pilot from the First Aviation Academy (FAA) at the Subic Bay International Airport who was conducting a solo cross-country flight.

CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said that based on the flight plan filed by the school, the flight originated from Iba Airport in Zambales en route to La Union Airport and Lingayen Airport, then back to Iba Airport.

Investigators Ranier Allan Ronda and Harry Paradero from CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) have been dispatched to help determine the cause of the accident.
