AIRASIA Philippines looks forward to a healthy H2 2023 after posting an on-time performance (OTP) of 81% running with the highest logged last 6 July 2023 at 94%.

OTP is an airline’s metric value especially when it comes to punctuality. An airline is considered on time if it arrives or departs within 15 minutes of the published schedule.

AirAsia has maintained a positive OTP for H1 2023 despite various factors that greatly affect it such as inclement weather and natural occurrences, primarily lightning red alerts and bird strikes, on top of other aircraft safety concerns that the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline seriously addresses.

AirAsiaAirAsia1AirAsia2Data from the Air Carriers Association of the Philippines (ACAP) indicates a significant increase in bird strike occurrences. During the first 6 months of 2023, local carriers reported 107 bird strike incidents, resulting in varying degrees of impact and aircraft damage.

Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) recorded 71 and 84 occurrences of Lightning Yellow and Red Alerts for the months of May and June this year. This tripled the number of incidents totaling 166 for the first half this year compared to the overall 60 occurrences tallied in 2022.

When lightning red alerts are hoisted, flight and ground movements are temporarily suspended while yellow alerts signal caution in view of safety.

AirAsia Philippines Country Head for Communications and Public Affairs and Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, “Our day-to-day operations at AirAsia focus on safety, passenger comfort, and on-time-performance, in that order, to make sure that we safely and efficiently fly our guests to their destinations. We are not perfect but we try to do it best for our guests and their loved ones. We are also working closely with government and industry partners in mitigating controllable circumstances that are aimed at improving the efficiency of airport operations.”

This month of July, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline is maintaining its daily flights to popular destinations such as Caticlan (7x daily), Tacloban (4x daily), Panglao (4x daily), Puerto Princesa (3x daily), and Cebu (7x daily) while observing the competitive flight frequency for other domestic destinations.

For the past three years, AirAsia Philippines continues to service not only its business and leisure guests but also those who are coming home to reunite with their families.

The airline, geared at sustaining the travel momentum into H2 2023 where most reunions are expected to happen, rolls out the AirAsia Mid-Year Great Sale, slashing base fares by 20% to top cities like Cebu and Davao, or leading leisure destinations like Caticlan and Panglao. The Mid-Year Great Sale is available for booking from 10 to 16 July 2023 and for travel from 4 September 2023 to 31 March 2024. During the sale event, base fares to international destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Osaka, Kota Kinabalu, Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, and Bali also dropped to as low as Php 718.

AirAsia3AirAsia Philippines continues to remind its guests that domestic flights now operate at the NAIA Terminal 2, while international flights will remain at the NAIA Terminal 3. All travel advisories and other information regarding flight schedules are regularly updated and posted via the AirAsia travel safety website.
