PHILIPPINE National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos on Saturday commended the Police Regional Office 7 headed by Brig. Gen. Roque Edgardo DP Vega for arresting a top drug trafficker in Central Visayas.

The top cop said that suspect John Casper Macaalay, a 21-year-old “high-value target” in Region 7, was arrested in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Hawod in Bgy. Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu by members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Talisay City Police Staiton.

The suspect yielded 525 grams of the “poor man’s cocaine” worth P3.570 million, the marked money paid to him by the poseur, and an unlicensed cal. .22 revolver.

“Isa na namang matagumpay na operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga ang naisagawa ng ating kapulisan sa Gitnang Kabisayaan at saludo ako sa inyong dedikasyon at patuloy na pagtugon sa panawagan ng ating Pangulong Duterte na ito ay supilin sa buong bansa,” Carlos said in congratulating the PRO7 personnel.

The PNP chief has ordered all police regional offices and operating units across the country to further step-up their war on drugs, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and with the help of the community.

Vega said that the arrested suspect is being held at the Talisay City police lock-up facility, facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and the Omnibus Election Code.
