Janitor held for stealing cash from church donation box
GAPAN CITY – A church janitor was brought to jail after allegedly stealing P600 from the donation box which was discovered after a review of the CCTV footages was conducted.
City police head Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito identified the arrested suspect as Roberto Quijano, 44, alias Iking, of Riles, Bgy. Sto. Niňo, this city.
Quijano’s arrest was prompted by a phone call from Rev. Fr. Aldrin Domingo, 52, parish priest of the National Shrine of the La Virgen Divina Pastora and Three Kings Parish Church in Bgy. San Vicente at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Desamito said Mylene De Jesus, a church worker, told Fr. Domingo that upon review of CCTV footages installed at the church, Quijano was allegedly seen opening the donation box and carting away the P600 money inside it.
Charges for qualified theft are now being readied for filing against the arrested suspect.
