5 more provinces under alert level 3

FIVE more provinces were placed under alert level 3 due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

The provinces of Bataan, Batangas, Cagayan, Pampanga and Zambales will be under Alert Level 3 from January 9 to 15.

Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal are under Alert Level 3 until Jan. 15 while Laguna was also put under the same alert level from January 7 to 15.

Meanwhile, Baguio City, Angeles City, Dagupan City, Iloilo City,Lapu-Lapu City,Lucena City, Naga City, Olongapo City and Santiago City were also declared under Alert Level 3 from January 9 to 15.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has agreed to escalate the areas to a higher alert level due to COVID spike.

President Rodrigo Duterte last Thursday urged the public to continue adhering to minimum public health standards.

“We are reverting back to a stricter quarantine protocol to minimize mobility and exposure of the coronavirus. Our minimum public health standards shall be strictly enforced and violations shall be dealt with accordingly under the law, especially under Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Concern Act,” the President said.

“To our countrymen, please follow persons in authority who are enforcing the restrictions and public standards. Must ito, must obey,” he added.
