5 gun runners killed in Pampanga shootout

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Five notorious gun dealers were killed on Thursday in a buy-bust-turned-shootout in Mexico, Pampanga.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, Pampanga police director Col. Arnold Ibay said operatives of the 3rd PMFC led by Lt. Col. Michael Masangkay and the Mexico municipal police launched an entrapment on the five suspects in Bgy. Nueva Victoria, Mexico Pampanga.

Ibay identified two of the fatalities as Mark Lester Lopez of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and Marvin Cunanan, 27, of Sta. Lucia, Magalang, Pampanga.

Police are still verifying the identities of the three other suspects.

Police recovered at the encounter site assorted fired bullets, one .9mm gun, another .9mm gun loaded with 12 bullets, a Palneyo .9mm gun with magazine, a homemade .9mm gun loaded with six bullets, a homemade .45 pistol, a bolt cutter and a 36-cm long crew bar. The gray Mitsubishi Expander with plate number 6562 used by the suspects in their illegal activity was impounded.

De Leon said the Central Luzon police will continue to launch anti-crime operations in the region.
