2 most wanted murder suspects captured

POLICE Regional Office (PRO) 5 director Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo on Saturday announced the capture of two most wanted murder suspects in Bicol region, one of them said to be a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Masbate City.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the PRO5 director identified the arrested suspects as Loreto Dometita alias ‘Ka Jun’ and Arvin Austral, said to be the 11th most wanted person in Metro Manila.

Estomo said that Dometita, a known member of the NPA’s Bicol Regional Party Committee working as a fishpond caretaker in Bgy. Bolo in Masbate City, was arrested on Tuesday by members of the PRO5 Regional Special Operations Unit, Masbate Police Provincial Office, Masbate Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Army’s 2nd Infantry Battalion.

The arrest was made on the strength of a warrant for murder issued by Judge Ronald Bersales of the Masbate City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 47 on August 6, 2020, with no bail recommended.

The PRO5 director said the suspect is wanted for his involvement in a series of killings in Masbate province but went into hiding in Masbate City where he worked as a fishpond caretaker since last year.

On the other hand, members of the Bulan Municipal Police Station, Mandaluyong City Police Station, PRO5 Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Army’s 22nd IB tracked down Austral in his hiding place in Bgy. Gate in Bulan municipality 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Estomo said the suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for murder with no bail recommended by Judge Monique Quisuimbing-Ignacio of the Mandaluyong City RTC Branch 29 on November 25, 2010.
