3 held at Davao City checkpoint for drugs, guns
A TRUCK driver and his two companions were arrested Saturday by police officers manning a checkpoint along Davao-Bukidnon Highway, Calinan, Davao City.
In a report to PRO11 director Brig. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr., members of the Calinan police detailed at the PNP/TF Davao checkpoint in Prk. 2, Bgy. Lacson, Calinan, Davao City arrested three persons after a box containing drugs and guns was found inside their truck.
Police identified the suspects as truck driver Jerald Garcia, 30, of Prk. Pugso, San Pedro; truck helper Michael Garcia, 25, of Prk. Lapu-Lapu; and Genielyn Lucernas, 25, of Prk 7, San Roque, Quezon, Bukidnon.
Seized from them the suspects were the small box containing 11 plastic sachets of shabu valued at P64,000, a self-sealing plastic pouch containing marijuana fruiting tops worth P500, drug paraphernalia, a piece big black pouch containing a loaded .9mm pistol, one .9mm magazine loaded with seven bullets, and one .357 revolver loaded with five live bullets, while the truck with plate number MDT 609 was impounded.
The suspects will be charged with violation of RA 9165, RA 10591 and Comelec gun ban.
