BRIG. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), has ordered the relief of three police officers in connection with a leaked video which showed the body of the late actor Ronaldo Valdez.

Ordered relieved were Senior M/Sgt. Wilfredo Calinao, Cpl. Romel Rosales and Galas police station 11 commander Lt. Col. Reynante Parlade.

Maranan said the three are also facing administrative and criminal complaints.

Calinao was reportedly the first responder who took the video of Valdez which later went viral on social media platforms.

Maranan said Calinao should not have taken a video of the actor at the scene as his main job is only to secure the area.

An investigation is underway to determine how the video made its way to Facebook and other social media platforms.

Police have also tracked down three civilians who posted a copy of the video on Facebook who could face criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act, and RA 10173, the data privacy law.
