2 top rebel leaders nabbed in Pasay
CAMP VICENTE LIM – Two high-ranking officials of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF_ Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee Regional were arrested in Nayong Pilipino, Pasay City on Monday.
The suspects are also included in the “Most Wanted List”, national level.
Regional IVA Director PBGen. Antonio C. Yarra applauded the successful arrest of Ernesto Lorenzo and Rosita Celino-Serrano.
They were arrested by joint elements of RMFB 4A, RID 4A, with support from CIDG 4A, RIU 4A, RID and RMFB of NCRPO, DID of SPD, Paranaque CPS, NICA 4A, 202nd Infantry Brigade, MIG4, ISAFP, and 4ISU Air Philippine Army.
The arrested rebels, together with alias “Gigi”, whose identity is still subject to verification, went to Pasay City for their vaccination schedule when they were arrested.
Ernesto Lorenzo alias “Adil”, NDF Consultant, Executive Committee of CPP/NPA/NDF, has two standing warrants of arrest, particularly for kidnapping and serious illegal detention and for attempted murder.
Meanwhile, Rosita Celino-Serrano alias Ester/Bebang/Tonying/Norming and Pola, – Regional Education and Propaganda Bureau Staff – STRPC and the Secretary of Islam Mindoro, has a pending warrant of arrest for murder.
She has a reward worth P5 million based on the DND-DILG (Department of National Defense-Department of the Interior and Local Government) Joint Order on Reward.
“It is but timely that we have arrested these two most wanted personalities of CPP/NPA/NDF that continue to put the nation’s safety in jeopardy with their violent acts and recruitment of our youths. We are just taking steps in securing the upcoming election on May by putting behind bars the possible threats in the region,” said PBGen. Yarra.
Meanwhile, the PNP Chief, Gen. Dionardo B. Carlos has extended to PBGen Yarra his appreciation for taking the lead in the fight against local armed conflict and terrorism in the region.
“Your kind of leadership is worthy of emulation, and to the operating teams, thank you for doing your job with diligence and dedication,” Carlos said.
