THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against purchasing unregistered food products and food supplements.

Under Republic Act (RA) No. 9711, the manufacture, sale and distribution of health products without proper authorization are strictly prohibited.

Reports said that despite this prohibition, 20 unregistered food products and five food supplements are being sold in the the local market.

Under RA No. 9711, more popularly known as the “FDA Act of 2000,” the government agency is mandated to ensure public health and safety.

Thus, it is certainly heartening to know that the government, through the FDA, is out to safeguard the health and safety of the Filipino people.

“Ang problema lang sa ating bansa eh mayroon tayong mga kababayan na talagang ang titigas ng ulo,” according to an irate female consumer.”

For the consumers to refuse to heed the warning of the FDA against patronizong unregistered food products is, without doubt, inviting disaster.

“Marami sa mga unregistered food products at supplements ay ipinagbibili sa pamamagitan ng online,” the consumer said.

The government must hit hard at all those involved in the manufacture, distribution and sale of unregistered food and supplement products.

And in the interest of a healthy population. business establishments should now yank all unregistered food and supplement products off their shelves.
