THE Offices of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, and Jude Acidre of the Tingog Party-list have initiated the establishment of a sports facility and bamboo plantation in the municipalities of Tolosa and Sta. Fe in Leyte.

On April 22, 2023, Tolosa local government unit (LGU) officials visited Tagum City. They met with the Department of Education (DepEd) officials to discuss how they were able to establish the Davao del Norte Sports Complex and Sports Academy.

Establishing a “world-class facility” in the First District of Leyte will improve the sports program in the province and allow young athletes to maximize their potential in their respective sports.

Meanwhile, the officials of Sta. Fe, along with the Speaker’s Office and Tingog Party-list visited the bamboo plantation in Bukidnon.

According to Bukidnon Rep. Jose Manuel Alba, bamboo should be “maximized” for its potential as an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to hardwood for types of furniture and construction materials.

The Office of the Speaker wants to replicate Bukidnon’s bamboo propagation and processing for Sta. Fe, Leyte and sees it as an opportunity to open a new industry in the district of Rep. Romualdez and create new jobs and business opportunities for farmers.
