A 17-YEAR-OLD son of the mayor in Lucban, Quezon died while his companion was seriously hurt after a speeeing Elf Truck smashed into them at an intersection in Brgy. 8, Monday night.

Guitahm Oli Dator, son of Lucban Mayor Olivier Dator, suffered multiple fatal wounds in the body and was declared dead at the MMG Hospital at past 12 a.m., according to Police Executive Master Sergeant Erwin Bebida, officer on case.

Bebida said the victim’s companion, Sydney Mykel Saliendra, 20, an employee of the municipal government sustained head injuries and waiting for transfer to another hospital.

He said the incident occurred at 9:40 p.m. while Dator was driving his yellow Yamaha Mio together with Saliendra who was driving a Kawasaki Rauser on their way home.

“As the victims crossed an intersecting street, they were smashed by a speeding delivery elf truck driven Brian Cuaresma Abana, 32, of Brgy. Malabanban Norte Candelaria, Quezon,” said Bebida.

On impact, Bebida said the victims and their motorcycles were thrown to the cemented pavement resulting to mutiple fatal injuries.

The victims were rushed to the hospital by those who witnessed the incident while the truck driver turned himself over to the police.

A footage from a CCTV camera installed along the street showed the victims were already in the middle of the road when they were hit head on by the descending truck.

The suspect driver was charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and serious physical injury and damage to property.
