HOUSE Speaker Martin Romualdez will meet today (Monday) with Philhealth and Department of Health (DOH) officials to discuss ways to expand member benefits including paying doctors when admission is private and not free.

Right now, patients are complaining that Philhealth only covers about 15 to 20 percent of the hospital bill if the patient is admitted to the private ward.

The agency pays only 30 percent of the professional fee.

Dr. Jose Degrano, pangulo ng Private Hospital Association of the Philippines (PHAP), agrees with this.

He promised, “definitely we hear our constituents therefore we have to do something about it”.
