SIOMAI King crowned itself as the inaugural champion of the D2 Super Cup Invitational Tournament presented by the Pilipinas Super League.

Led by Encho Serrano and Leo Najorda, Siomai King brought down host Tiaong Meaksyon, 83-76, in another tight and exciting battle before a big crowd at the Tiaong Convention Center recently.

With the victory, Siomai King brought home a whopping grand prize of P2 million in the week-long competition sponsored by Converge and Alona party-list Rep. Anna Villaraza-Suarez.

Serrano finished with 27 points, five rebounds and two assists, while Najorda added 17 points and six rebounds as Siomai King held off the hard-fighting Tiaong Meaksyon in their winner-take-all title showdown.

Serrano was later named Most Valuable Player.

Siomai King coach JR Aquino, on the other hand, bagged the Super Coach award.

Backing up Serrano and Najroda s Nigerian slotman Emman Ojuola, who came through with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Toby Agustin paced the Mapua University-backed Tiaong side with 20 points and six rebounds.

Warren Bonifacio and Clint Escamis added 13 and 11, respectively.

Siomai King took a 45-40 lead at the halfway mark and was still in control 68-61 heading into the payoff period.

Diomai King then held Tiaong to just eight points in the final period to seal the victory..

In the battle for third place, Manila clobbered San Antonio Quezon 82-73 behind Adrian Celada’s 16 points and four assists.

Meanwhile, Consolacion Sarok Weavers blasted Dea’s Bakeshop x Rad, 81-66, in the playoff to advanceto the best-of-three finals of the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League 18-Under Visayas Leg at Cebu City Sports Institute over the weekend.
