THE Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday came up with a memorandum suspending court work on December 29, 2022, beginning at 12 noon at all levels.

In Memorandum Order 181-2022, signed by acting Chief Justice Marvic Leonen, the high court said: “(This is) to give personnel, parties, and litigants the necessary time and opportunity to attend to their personal engagements for the season.”

However, the SC said that the suspension of work for December 29 will not apply “to court personnel who need to process bails, orders of releases or other writs of liberty, those who need to serve protection orders within the day, or those attending to other urgent matters at the discretion of judges and justices.”

Also, in light of Proclamation No. 90 declaring January 2, 2023, a special non-working holiday throughout the country, court activities at all levels shall likewise be suspended on said date.

Work in all courts will resume on Jan. 3, 2023.
