AN LGBT+ alliance has thrown its support behind Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and her presidential tandem former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., believing they are the ones who could move the country forward and further advance the rights of the third sex.

The LGBT Pilipinas declared its unequivocal support to the UniTeam tandem during Duterte’s meeting with the LGBT+ community on Thursday held at the Great Eastern Hotel in Quezon City.

“With 2022 in the rear view, we would like to throw our unflinching loyalty and all out support should destiny favor their intentions,” Gerald “Dindi” Tan, LGBT Pilipinas national secretary general said of Marcos and Duterte.

“LGBT Pilipinas, its allied organizations and network believes that only Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and Bongbong Marcos are in the best position to move this nation forward and build on the gains that we have had since the advent of this administration,” Tan added.

The meeting was also attended by House Majority Leader and Lakas-CMD President Martin G. Romualdez as well as local candidates of Quezon City led by mayoralty bet Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor and his tandem, former Quezon City Rep. Winston “Winnie” Costelo.

The LGBT Pilipinas is certain it could move for the further recognition of the LGBT+ and advance the community’s rights and welfare with Marcos and Duterte being the country’s leaders.

“We believe that given her commitment in fighting alongside us for our cause, we will be able to do more and achieve more with her in Malacanang Palace together with President Bongbong Marcos by God’s grace,” Tan said.

Founded in 2016, the LGBT Pilipinas is the only alliance of LGBT+ organizations, networks and allied groups that is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

It has more than 70 chapters and it is only absent in the conflict-stricken and geographically-located Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte also recognized the LGBT Pilipinas as shown by the group’s holding of its historic convention at the Heroes Hall of Malacanang in December 2019.
