CABANATUAN CITY – Mayor Arvin C. Salonga of San Antonio town has been elected as the new president of the 27-man strong League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Nueva Ecija Chapter at the league’s elections at the Old Provincial Capitol Building on Wednesday here.

Salonga, who highly supported the UniTeam top bets, newly-elected President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to “landslide” win in his town during the previous polls, won unopposed and will serve as LMP-NE chapter president from 2022 until 2025.

He replaced outgoing LMP-NE President Mayor Jose “Boyong-Boyong” Dizon of Guimba town, who was appointed as his presidential adviser.

In his message, Salonga, who Gov. Aurelio M. Umali personally endorsed to be the next LMP-NE president, urged his fellow local chief executives to unite, set aside partisan politics, and work for the common good of Novo Ecijanos.

The newly-elected LMP top official vowed to coordinate closely with Gov. Umali so that all projects in the province will be downloaded to every municipality.

“Babalangkas tayo ng panuntunan upang ang mga bayan na pinakamalinis, pinakamaayos at pinakatahimik ay bibigyan natin ng karampatang gantimpala at pagkilala,” Salonga also told the mayors.

Others elected to the executive board were Cabiao Mayor Ramil B. Rivera (vice president); Zaragosa Mayor Lally Belmonte-Espiritu (secretary); Jaen Mayor Sylvia C. Austria (treasurer); Licab Mayor Eufemia Domingo (auditor); Lupao Mayor Alex Rommel V. Romano (business manager); and Nampicuan Mayor Victor Badar (PRO).

Also elected to comprise the eight-man board of directors were Cuyapo Mayor Flor Paguio-Esteban/Talavera Mayor Nerito “JR” Santos Jr. (first district); Pantabangan Mayor Roberto Agdipa/Llanera Mayor Ronnie Roy Pascual (second district); Gabaldon Mayor Jobby Emata/Bongabon Mayor Ricardo Padilla (3rd district); and San Leonardo Mayor Froilan Nagaño/General Tinio Mayor Isidro T. Pajarillaga (4th district).

The San Antonio mayor, now on his third and final term as mayor, first headed the LMP-NE chapter in 2004 during the time of then-governor, the late Tomas N. Joson III.

Salonga was the first local chief executive in the province to publicly endorse both the presidential and vice presidential bids of Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio during the previous polls.
