Russia takes on the West—and is winning

PaulSIX months now into Russia’s pre-emptive ‘special military operation’ (SMO) in Eastern Ukraine that started last February 24, the unceasing and downright false Western propaganda against Russia cannot hide the truth emerging from the battlefield—it is winning the land war in Ukraine.

And yes, all those grim scenarios painted by the mainstream Western corporate media, citing their own governments—Russia is on the verge of economic collapse because of the combined imperialists’ sanctions—have also been thus far proven to be farthest from the truth.

As the article of August 21, 2022 at ‘Indian Punchline’ puts it in expressing the dilemma of both US Imperialism and its puppet regime of Pres. Volodymr Zelensky noted: “Indeed, Putin’s towering popularity within Russia has become an eyesore for the Biden Administration. Putin’s masterly navigation of the Russian economy out of crisis mode is an incredible feat that defied all logic of power in the American calculus — inflation is steadily falling (in contrast with the European countries and the US); the GDP decline is narrowing;

Foreign reserves are swelling; the current account is on the plus side; and lo and behold, the Biden Administration’s so-called ‘nuclear option’ — Russia’s removal from the SWIFT messaging system — failed to cripple foreign trade.”

With its own military industrial complex now mostly in tatters due to precision Russian strikes since the start of the conflict, Ukraine is now mainly relying on Western military aid to just simply hold on to its currently-held positions; the idea of throwing back Russia back to its border is now simply out of the question.

Under the present situation, it would be a great flight of military fantasy to believe that Ukraine can defeat Russia solely on the basis of outside support—most of which have been proved to be useless on arrival after also being destroyed by precise Russian bombings.

In this regard, like in Vietnam and Afghanistan, US Imperialism may have been simply throwing money in a bottomless pit (about $80 billion and counting thus far) but with a huge difference:

If the Vietnam War precipitated the start of US bankruptcy (it was force to drop the gold standard) made worse by the over $2 trillion it spent in Afghanistan, its economy can now really ill-afford to finance its war in Ukraine, pitted as it is now with its ‘main adversary,’ Russia.

Zelensky, of course, has on his own, inflicted a calamity on his country and people due to his utter subservience to Western Imperialism by agreeing Ukraine to be a part of NATO.

It was his stupid belief that being part of NATO— Russia’s ‘Red Line’—that Ukraine would be more secure and that NATO soldiers would be dying for Ukrainian ‘independence’ were both proven to be well, stupid.

But of course, 6 months into the war, we now know that Russia is not only up against the fascists in Ukraine, but also from the “representatives” of various N ATO militaries.

As the same Indian Punchline article noted, “20 Americans were killed in Kharkiv two days ago (August 19, 2022) in a high-precision Russian missile strike, but there aren’t going to be any body bags returning to Arlington Cemetery; nor does it make headline in the cooperative American media.”

Looking back and despite the present and repetitive Western pronouncements about its purported commitment to “territorial integrity” and “respect for other nations’ sovereignty,” we note that these are just camouflage for Western appetite for territorial expansion.

In 1812, it was this inherent greed for more territories that pushed the great Napoleon Bonaparte to invade Russia. It ended in disaster, a defeat that ultimately ended with his defeat at Waterloo 3 years later.

It was this same appetite for more territories “in the East” that made Hitler invade Russia in 1941, which was again met with disaster capped by Soviet troops entering Berlin in 1945.

Imperial Japan too, thinking it can have a repeat victory against Russia during the Russo-Japanese War of 1905, tried to grab more Russian territories in the late 1930s only to suffer crushing defeats.

Now, these same Western forces are de facto waging war against Russia in the present war in Ukraine and using all resources—economic, political, diplomatic, financial– to put down, humiliate and at the end, looking to dictate terms of surrender against Russia.

But despite all these, Russia is winning. This is the “hard facts on the ground.”

After all, its long history showed that the Russian people are used to fighting the rest of the world no matter how long this would take—and come out the winner except in one instance, in Afghanistan.
