Romualdez lauds Yulo historic win

HOUSE Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday said the historic victory of Carlos Yulo at the 2021 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships at Kitakyushu City Gymnasium in Japan will serve as a huge confidence booster for the country’s quest to win gold medals in 2024 Paris Olympics.

Romualdez congratulated Yulo, the 21-year old Filipino artistic gymnast Carlos Yulo who was recognized as the first Filipino who captured multiple medals at the world championships, for bringing another pride and glory for the Philippines after winning a gold medal in the vault finals and a silver medal in the parallel bars finals of the 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Sunday.

“Your victory will boost the country’s campaign to win gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Romualdez, chairman of the House committee on rules.

“Congratulations to Carlos Yulo for winning gold and silver medals at the 2021 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships,” added Romualdez, president of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD).

“Your achievements inspired many Filipinos to soar to greater heights and achieve great success in life. Salamat sa iyong mga sakripisyo at pagbibigay ng karangalan sa bansa,” Romualdez, a lawyer from the University of the Philippines (UP) and president of the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa),one of the most prestigious organizations of legal luminaries in the country.

Ako Bisaya party-list Rep. Sonny Lagon, Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and Deputy Speaker and Valenzuela City Rep. Eric Martinez also hailed Yulo’s outstanding performance.

“You are truly a hero in this time of pandemic. You deserve to be recognized and commended for bringing pride, honor and inspiration especially to young Filipinos who want to excel in their fields,” Lagon said.

“Huge congratulations to Carlos Edriel Yulo for his stunning performance at the 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan, winning gold and silver medals in the men’s vault and parallel bars events, respectively. Once again, you have hoisted the Philippine flag high. We are proud of you, Caloy. Mabuhay ang atletang Pinoy!,” Velasco said.

“This would be a confidence boost for 2024 Paris Olympics for Caloy,” said Martinez, former chairman of the House committee on youth and sports development. “A bold prediction that Caloy will win multiple Olympic medals in Paris 2024!”
