Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga Jr., 1-Pacman Rep. Mikee Romero, Bulacan Rep. Salvador Pleyto Sr., at House Deputy Minority Leader

“I would like to congratulate the President for delivering a spectacular and no-nonsense second State of the Nation Address (SONA). As expected, the Chief Executive gave a clear, factual and comprehensive report to the Filipino people, detailing his administration’s achievements after a year in office, giving us a lot of hope and optimism. The President went straight to the point, keeping his performance report simple and bereft of gimmicks — no pomp and circumstance. It was terse but meaningful,” ani Barzaga, chairman ng House committee on natural resources.

“The speech showed that he is dead serious in getting things done and proving that the administration’s pro-people agenda is not mere lip-service. I could sense his confidence when he said that the state of the nation is sound and improving and as the song goes, we’ve only just begun.

The President assured the people that he is striving to put flesh on his campaign promises of uplifting lives and uniting the country, which he said was made possible by his call for national unity. I also agree with the President that we have already made significant progress as we get back on our feet post-pandemic. He trumpeted that the economy grew by 7.6 percent, the highest in 46 years and 6.4 percent in the first quarter of 2023 which is well within the government’s target,” ani Barzaga.

“Another significant accomplishment of the administration is the slowing down of headline inflation rates to 6.1 percent last May which the President said was proof that the economy if being transformed.

I admire the President for clamping down on graft and corruption and incompetence. That was a stern warning against those who refuse to leave their old ways. Also laudable was his call for the granting of amnesty to rebel returnees, which is a strong proof that he is extending the hand of reconciliation to unite the country,” ani Barzaga.

“The national leadership has started confronting all of the country’s problems head-on with remarkable achievements. It means its still a work in progress, and it’s all in the right direction. The President has started building the blocks of a more progressive Philippines in the years to come,” ani Mikee Romero, chairman ng House committee on poverty alleviation.

“It’s a compendium of the initial steps the President has done, and it’s obviously a good start. There are still five more years to go but at least we now have a more concrete idea of the things to come. Simply put – it’s a job well done Mr. President,” sa panig naman ni Pleyto.

“We are ecstatic that the President mentioned as a priority the creation of the Department of Water, which is a bill that I have filed since the 15th Congress,” ani Herrera, kinatawan ng Bagong Henerasyon.

“We thank the President for renewing his commitment to establishing a department dedicated to water resource management, and we will continue to work closely with his administration so he can fully deliver on his commitment.”

We definitely support the opening of more Kadiwa stores as this will benefit more Filipino families,”
ani Nazal.

His speech is notable for the fact that it mentioned his administration’s programs and plans related to agriculture such as Amending the Fisheries Code, Amendment to the Anti Agricultural Smuggling Act, and the Amendment to the Cooperative Code,” anito.
